We will be staying on an island off the coast of Belize called Ambergris Caye just 15 minutes from San Pedro Town at an eco-resort. Spend the week in the Caribbean immersed in nature, listening to the sound of birds while swaying in a hammock. The perfect white-sand beach, warm-winter getaway location.
No problem! Donna will match you with a compatible solo traveler with whom you are comfortable. Prefer a private space? Private accommodations may be available at additional cost.
Getting to the Resort
If you’re coming from the US, you’ll fly into Belize City. From Belize City you will take a booking puddle jumper to San Pedro, the main city on the island. The resort will handle the booking once itineraries from the US are received. The flight is approximately 15 minutes. The cost for the puddle jumper flight is an extra $158 (round trip).
Optional Island Excursions
Create your own island adventure (not included).
Lagoon Kayaking & Birdwatching:
The earlier the better for wildlife, a guide will take you through the winding mangrove channels on the lagoon where you will see heron, egret and more.
Marco Gonzalez Maya archeological site:
This is a local Maya ruin 5 miles south from Ak’boL on the southern tip of the island. There are no tall pyramids on the island, there are signs of a village trading community down South.
Mexico Rocks National Reserve. Stop at MX Rocks plus another stop either a shipwreck or an entrance to an underwater cave…lots of huge coral heads- you never know what you’ll see around the corner!
Caye Catamaran full day sail
snacks and drinks included, buy your own lunch on Caye Caulker.
Rum Punch Sailboat with Captain George- all aboard this beautiful painted lady!
Rum punch included, privately chartered
Sail to Caye Caulker
Bacala Chino Island Tour:
Explore this reserve at the northern tip of the island called Bacalar Chico National Reserve. The Mayas dug a channel that separates the island from Mexico, which was once a trading center and nature walk. Make a loop of the island from the back of the lagoon around the front of the sea with 3 snorkel stops plus lunch.
Crocodile Educational Tour:
The local Crocodile Dundee, Chris, has an abundance of information to share with us regarding crocodiles. Leave by boat just before sunset and spot crocodiles in the lagoon and depending how spunky, Chris might just grab a small one to bring on board!
Spectacular Wall diving at the southern-most tip of the atoll. The currents bring in an abundance of fish and marine life and are home to some of the largest gorgonians (sea fans).
Kayaking, wind-surfing, paddle boarding and more! Visit the mainland for adventures like zip-lining, zoo, ruins and cave exploration. A full list is available upon request.
Massage, reflexology and pedicure availble on-site and added to your room tab.
Payment Terms and Cancellation Policy
A NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT OF $500 (+ $15 processing fee) SAVES YOUR SPOT.
Final payment must be made by check or money order by October 1, 2022. All payments are final. No refunds available.
I cannot emphasize more the importance of travel insurance. As we all know, especially as travelers, “life happens.” Whether it’s family, work, mother nature, or a change of heart, it is important to be prepared in case you need to unexpectedly change your travel plans. Often for less than $150, you can purchase a travel insurance policy and be protected in the event that you need to make a change or need to be covered financially prior to or during your trip.
Review frequently Ak'bol COVID protocols.
* Airfare to/from Belize City * Transportation to Ambergris Island (Tropic Air-$158) * Transportation from San Pedro to Ak’Bol ($10-$15) * Wednesday night dinner out on the town *Resort staff gratuity (recommended $50+) *Departure tax from Belize (approx. $40) *Alcohol, excursions, spa services*
Retreat Packet with full retreat details will be sent to those attending + ongoing updates and communication.
Donna Mahoney | E-RYT | YACEP | Reiki Master
I began my yoga practice almost 2 decades ago. The inward journey led me to my dream of being a yoga teacher and studio owner so that others may have that same experience. With over 1000 registered teaching hours, I enjoy teaching Vinyasa, Restorative/Yin and Meditation class styles. I have a passion for bringing women together for friendship and connection. Join me for an incredible week of connecting, laughter, fun and leaning into going with the flow (this is more than what it may sound like-join me to find out more!) as you unwind, unplug, reset and enjoy everything this island paradise has to offer.
In a world filled with distractions and demands, yoga and mindfulness are great ways to hit pause, pay attention and return to the present moment by focusing on what is directly in front of us. The only moment that exists. With journal prompts throughout our time together you may find it easy to get clear on what is important in your life and sink into your new year intentions.
In addition to leading retreats Internationally and in the US, I own 2 yoga studios in WI, am a Reiki Master, lead private events for local businesses and teach weekly classes. Building and staying connected to the community is something I'm incredibly passionate about. If you have any questions, you can connect with me at email@example.com
